Burn your recipes!” If youve been following me for any amount of time now, youve heard me utter that statement time and time again. Its not that Im entirely against using recipes for home cooking, its more because I see cooking meals as a personal art form or your kitchen culinary expression.
In fact, home cooking recipes are especially useful if youre looking for new ideas and flavor combinations. Recipes are useful for cooking meals if you want to try to duplicate something exactly.
Here are some of the things that recipes will tell you:
The ingredients to use
The correct weights and measures for the ingredients
The temperatures and degrees to use
How much time you should cook
What steps to take and when
But, you cant expect recipes to tell you everything that you need to know to make the meal come to life. I like to make analogies between cooking and music. Lets take sheet music for example. There are things that sheet music doesnt tell the piano player. There are variations in tone, pace, and interpretation. The musician has to bring the music to life through his or her own interpretation of the music that they are reading.
Here are some of the things that recipes dont tell you:
Variations in ingredients/substitutions
Variations in measurements/ mistakes in measuring
Variations in oven temps/stove temps
Variations in time
Why you are taking the steps you are taking
There are very few celebrity chefs that I enjoy. An exception is Alton Brown. I enjoy Alton Browns show because he also explains why hes taking the steps hes taking as well as how different ingredients, temperatures, etc. affect the food that you cook. One day when I was watching Alton, he was cooking a popover recipe that looked great. As I was watching, I thought that the amount of salt he used would make it too salty for me. But, when I tried to make the recipe, I used his exact measurements because, well, hes Alton Brown. Turns out the popovers were WAY too salty!
Next time, Ill take out some of my own recipe books I use for inspiration and point out some of the ways that I know the recipe book is broken. My goal is to help you to increase your kitchen culinary skills by using your home cooking recipes to cook meals that you can be proud of again and again.

This turkey recipe uses brine techniques to bring forth turkey meat which is incredibly moist. Cooking this turkey meat for your Christmas meal will make you a hit both your friends and family. Home cooking has never never more exciting! For more details www.thanks-giving-recipes.com.In cooking, brining is a process similar to marination in which meat is soaked in a salt solution (the brine) before cooking.
Brining makes cooked meat moister by hydrating the cells of its muscle tissue before cooking, via the process of osmosis, and by allowing the cells to hold on to the water while they are cooked, via the process of denaturation. This prevents the meat from drying out, or dehydrating. For more details www.300-chicken-recipe.com.Christmas Turkey Cooking RecipeJuicy Turkey Breast

Need Helps To Relieve Stress? Try Cooking!
If you’re under a mountain of stress, and you need some helps for relief from stress, try cooking. Maybe at first you don’t see the connection – how can cooking help with stress relief? Isn’t a massage better? Or having a lot of money? But think about it. Cooking helps with stress relief in many ways.
Just Something To Do
For some people, the act of working with the food and creating something people will enjoy eating is a stress reliever. Cooking helps relieve stress and relaxes people by taking their mind away from the stresses they’ve been consumed by. Haven’t you noticed that when your hands are busy and you have to focus on something else – this case, measuring and mixing – that it is harder to ruminate about the struggles you’re having?
Helping Others Helps Us
Another way that cooking helps relieve stress is that often we cook for others. Experts have known for ages that one way to relieve our own stress and worries is to help someone else – cooking is the perfect way to help others! Whether it is making a dinner for someone who has an extra stress (new baby, health issues, moving, etc.) or making a cake for a celebration (birthday, graduation, anniversary, etc.) cooking for others can relieve your own stress.
Consider the impact of surprising someone else with something you’ve cooked. Has someone helped you lately? Or impressed you? Or been an influence for good in your life? Maybe you should cook them a loaf of homemade pumpkin bread or banana bread! The excitement you feel as you anticipate their reaction will add to the stress relief while you cook.
Comfort Food – Appropriately Named
What do you think of as comfort food? For many people, it is a food that they had as a child, probably something their mother made. It usually brings back warm fuzzy memories of snuggling with their mom and being with family. Even just the scent of the food can induce comfort – that’s why “apple pie spice” candles sell so well.
Common comfort foods are mashed potatoes, chicken noodle soup, or tuna noodle casserole. Also, homemade bread with butter and freezer stored strawberry jam is the perfect comfort food that heralds of home for many of us. Note that though there are many ways to make each of these, usually the way Mom made it is “best” and is the version we consider a comfort food. If you want to use cooking to help relieve stress, try making a comfort food.

Were ever you may be, camping on the beach, or camping in a campground, fishing on a lake, tailgating at the big game or just exploring, at the end of the day, its always about cooking. Outdoor cookers provide some of the best cooking equipment to enhance any outdoor experience. These cookers are sturdy and powerful enough to cook with large pots for those big family gatherings.
Outdoor cookers range from 10 psi (pounds square inch) to a whopping 30 psi and some cookers come with an adjustable regulator. Most cookers weigh more than the canister stove, propane stove, and liquid-fuel stove, but the powers they provide far out-weigh the difference in weight. Yet, they are still light enough they can easily be moved from one location to another.
Outdoor cookers come in many sizes and styles. Because of their size and weight, these cookers are best suited for the car campers and RV campers. Outdoor cookers in comparison are not much different in size than most outdoor camping stoves. In fact, some of these cookers are smaller. These cookers come with single burner and duel burners and some have duel jets while others come equipped with a three hundred sixty degree windscreen. Some outdoor cookers even come equipped with optional slide on extension legs.
All outdoor cookers are strong and sturdy and their weight varies from around eleven pounds to just under twenty-five pounds. Due to their type of construction, some of these cookers can handle pots up to 162 quarts, yet all outdoor cookers will just as easily handle small frying pans or about any other type cookware which makes these type cookers more versatile than camp stoves or portable grills.
Because outdoor cookers are so powerful like the Bayou Cooker, with its 22 inch cooking surface and 10 inch cast iron burner the lists of foods that can be cooked on it is almost unlimited. For the large family gathering the Duel Burner cooker is ideal with its duel 14 inch diameter cooking surfaces. This will surely get a meal ready quickly. For the camper that needs to heat up quickly the High Pressure Cooker with its 360 degree windscreen protection and wide leg design for stability is an ideal choice. This cooker will be great for deep frying a turkey. For the camper that wants the power of a cooker but cooks smaller meals then the Jet Cooker with its flame spreader is a great choice. Close the flame spreader for smaller cooking pots and pans, open the flame spreader for the larger stock pots. For the cook needing a cooker with a low profile yet strong enough for big stockpots then the Banjo Cooker will be an excellent choice. This cooker is ideal to sit on any picnic table.
No matter which cooker you may choose, all of them are great for cooking with Dutch oven cookware. Before you decide on an outdoor cooker, think about its purpose.

How Do Your View Cooking?
Despite the fact that this question is asked somewhat rhetorically, it is a question you really should ask yourself and answer. Do you view cooking as a chore or duty or do you view it as a project? There is something much more pleasurable about embarking on a new project than getting around to a loathsome chore. If you do view cooking as a chore the more fundamental question might be why?
Some common reasons that people dislike cooking include the following: lack of skill, lack of confidence, boredom, or you could simply dislike the inevitable clean up far more than you enjoy the process of cooking. For each of these, there are solutions if you are willing to make the effort.
A lack of skill when it comes to cooking can be easily corrected in most cases by taking a few cooking classes. Classes are offered for varying degrees of skill sets and are meant to help you develop your cooking talents while teaching you the basics of meal planning and preparation. You can increase your skills by taking more classes down the road. You can found a lot of those in a simple google search.
While a lack of confidence is a little more difficult to address having a few -dinner parties’ in which your quests can compliment your culinary talents can often solve this particular dilemma. The key in this process is to plan your menu carefully and remain well within your comfort zone. You will be amazed at the wonderfully rich and delicious meals that can be prepared with very little effort if you are willing to sift through the recipe books in order to find them.
Boredom in the kitchen is perhaps one of the easiest problems to fix there is. The solution is exceedingly simple-find a challenge. Try cooking Thai or Indian cuisine. Try more difficult recipes like recipes form resturants like I use and highly recommend. Try making only meals from scratch or simply try broadening your use of spices and seasonings. There are many things you can do in order to provide some pleasure back into your kitchen. You may even come across hidden talents and tastes in the process.
There will always be clean up. My suggestion is to make a deal with either your partner or your children and they can draw straws over who cleans up. Of course if this won’t work in your family, you could always turn over a new leaf and clean as you go whenever possible. This makes the clean up process after dinner so much simpler to handle that it is well worth a few extra minutes during meal prep.

Cooking ribs can be done through a variety of methods with oven cooking being one of the fastest and most versatile cooking methods. If you want to become skilled at cooking ribs in oven come up with some lovely meals for all to delight in, you will have to start learning right away. You will have need of aluminum foils, glass or baking pans, water and seasonings. The ribs have to be the best that you can get for this recipe so the end product can be delicious and amazing. It is important to remember that most ribs have lots of fat, which results in shrunken ribs after cooking, and therefore you will have to get more ribs than you actually need for the recipe. This is an important tip especially for those who do not fancy side dishes.
Start off by seasoning the ribs that you have chosen using any type of seasoning that you may prefer. Seasonings are not a must but they tend to enhance the taste of the ribs. Ribs tend to do pretty well with seasonings like meat tenderizers, pepper, salt and garlic. Other herbs that you can make use to come up with some excitingly prepared ribs include parsley, oregano, turmeric, rosemary and paprika. Those people who love experimenting with their food also use cheese in the seasonings. of using these seasonings you can also resort to using marinades for the preparation of the ribs which can be bought from local stores. The marinating process also tenderizes the meat of the ribs further.
The top of the baking should be covered by the aluminum foil of the heavy duty type. Remember to leave some foil on the sides of the pan to cover the ribs once you start cooking. Have the ribs placed on the pan and water added up to its ? inch mark. The water is important in ensuring that the pan and the foil scotch as well as ensuring that the ribs retain moisture. A good tip to observe would be to include carrots, big onion chunks, different vegetables and potatoes into the baking pan. It is important to ensure that the pan that you are going to use gets to fit all the ribs without stacking. This guarantees that the ribs that you are cooking in the oven get to cook all through without leaving some parts out. The arches are best placed while facing upwards in the oven.
Have the ribs all covered up using the aluminum foils and make sure to have the foil slightly loose so that the ribs do not press it during the cooking process. Have the oven heated up to 325 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour before removing the foil, turning the ribs and heating up the oven to 375 for approximately 15 minutes. In case you desire to gain knowledge of how to grill beef ribs, you have to boil them or bake them before the grilling process.

The illegal cooking oil is usually made from discarded kitchen wastes that have been refined. Looking clean and clear, it contains toxic substance such as aflatoxin, which can cause cancers. In China, underground oil refining businesses have grown pretty maturely. There is a whole set of procedures for producing illegal cooking oil.
As a country with prosperous restaurant businesses, the amount of kitchen waste produced on a daily basis in China is quite large, forming 40 percent of a citys total waste.
With its price being half that of ordinary cooking oil, a profit of 1.5 to 2 billion Yuan is produced in the entire alleged cooking oil business on the country every year. The profit margin is almost 200 percent. Its easy to understand why the lousiness is so hot. Said China Daily. In the current situation, preventing of the use of illegal cooking oil should begin its source, kitchen waste.
The first and foremost step is to ensure an official, standardized collection of kitchen waste. At present, the owners of the restaurants sell the kitchen wastes to the illegal cooking oil producers to make great profits. But if they have legal channels in which they can sell these wastes and earn some money, the use of these kitchen wastes can continue to enter the market with its sustained high profitability. The key point is to advance the technology in this industry. However, at present, the restaurants are unwilling to hire the citys sanitation workers for kitchen waste collection but to sell them to those illegal producers. The restaurants have to pay a certain fee if they hire the citys sanitation workers; whereas selling kitchen waste to private parties can earn them almost 10000 Yuan every year.
Second, the government should strengthen the supervision of the production and circulation of the illegal cooking oil. On the one hand, the cost of committing relevant crimes must be increased. Any party involved should be punished severely. On the other hand, the moral standards should be enhanced. People should be encouraged to take responsibility for the right of leading a health life for others as well as for themselves.
In my opinion, it is the basic right for people to take in health food everyday and everybody shoulders the responsibility to guarantee this basic human rights. As ordinary citizens, we cant merely depend on the government to settle this problem. Everybody has the responsibility to join in the fight against the illegal cooking oil and defend our own health.

Whether you’re a dieter or a diabetic, the days of waving away the treat dish are over, due to Xylitol, a all-natural sweetener which could be employed as a stand-in for glucose in any recipe which satisfies the sweet tooth.
In 2003, nutritionist Karen Edwards wrote a complete Xylitol cookbook — “Sweeten Your Life the Xylitol Way” — plus three years afterwards unveiled an expanded version containing more than 100 meals for cookies, cakes, pies, even ice cream plus condensed milk, modified to match the preferences of those that need carbohydrates however have concerns regarding glucose information./p>
Xylitol, a sweetener which occurs naturally in plants plus in small amounts in human tissue, is sold in granulated form and has now the sweetness of glucose, however contains approximately 40 percent fewer calories plus produces neither the insulin spike of glucose neither the aftertaste of synthetic sweeteners like Splenda plus aspartame.
Because Xylitol plus glucose respond similarly to heat, Xylitol could substitute for glucose in cooking plus cooking on essentially a one-to-one ratio. But experts recommend starting with a small amount of Xylitol plus changing to taste. In meals calling for white convert, a good direction of thumb is to utilize a half-cup of Xylitol where you would normally employ one cup of glucose plus progressively add more until the batter is sweet enough.
Yeast bread is the exception to the direction, but. The same chemical substance which inhibits the manufacturing of harmful microorganisms in the lips provides the same effect on the microorganisms in yeast, creating Xylitol bad for employ in cooking yeast-based bread.
